For Immediate Release
May 12, 2003
Ithaca, New York—CBORD’s president, John Alexander, chaired the 2002 Tompkins County United Way Campaign that ended in March 2003. The countywide goal this year was to raise $1,800,000. The campaign raised a staggering total of 91.6% of the total goal, i.e., $1,650,000 in donations.
When asked why he chose to lead the 2002 Campaign, John Alexander replied, "The United Way member organizations provide services on which many of our neighbors rely, in order to build and sustain healthy lives, and a healthy, vibrant community."
As a local campaign Pacesetter Company, CBORD pledged a matching grant to employee contributions for a total CBORD donation of $45,500. CBORD employees donated in record numbers, thanks to the CBORD United Way committee that included eight CBORD employees who encouraged donations by holding an ice cream kick-off party and a pasta luncheon
"Serving on the United Way campaign committee allows me to help raise money for many important organizations around the community that would not exist without those donations," says CBORD United Way committee chair Roxanne Auble.
